Climbing the mountain...

Posted on Jun 2nd, 2006 by Wil : unEYEr1 Wil

Namaste all,

I'd like you to allow your brain to wander...

Close your eyes between concepts and play with them...

Tis an old analogy... one that I just had an extreme amount of fun with this morning, and one that built a ton of new neuronets...very enjoyable....I hope for you as well.

As we travel this road called life somewhere along the way many of us reach the mountain, and have a desire to climb the mountain to find our version of enlightenment...our connection and understanding of source.

So in this mountain analogy there exist many paths to the top....some start on the opposite side of the mountain...and in our analogy no one woud expect you to spend so much time and effort walking all the way around to find the path that others told you was the only right and true way to the top.

Now these paths can be labeled if you wish, Buddhist,  Judaic, Islamic, Taoist, Jane, Athiest, Hindu, Wiccan, Scientific, Christain, Bahai, Evolutionary... whatever.  And some of these paths may have a variety of forks in their own right creating Baptist, Orthodox, Liberal, Catholic, Esoteric, Protestant... whatever...

Take a minute and reflect on the paths you have taken....

Take some time to reflect on all the people you know who are on other paths...

Look in your minds eye at the mountain, all the people on all the paths....reflect on how often our paths cross...

Have you ever taken some time traveling down another path?  See the people you met along the way...reflect on the new understandings you gained while traveling with them.

Some of will take another path, and as it 'resonates' or seems easier, or we find contentment there, or understand more...or maybe just like the people or the view from that path....we stay on it.  Some of us, may back up....and go back to the path that we knew....the one we found more comfortable...or the one our parents or friends started us out on...

Or maybe we'll find another path, and try it for a while...or an eternity....

Or maybe you'll  cross paths again with old friends...and go back to your old path...but this time higher up the mountain...with a new understanding....and compare notes with those that traveled the other way...another way...no rights, no wrongs...just other ways up the mountain....

I hope you took the time to travel a little in your mind and hope you enjoyed the trip.

I'd love to hear your comments....about the journey in your mind and life....  about your exploration of other paths...and your contentment or contemplation of your own.

AWE yes, so many beautiful people in this wondrous Great Walk towards the One.

Everyone included, all beliefs honored, selfish-pain lost, inner-peace gained, no-thing stays put though, deep bonds experienced, still climbing the mountain, still breathing in the oh-so-sweet lovely-ness.

I admire those who seem to have found their path and are comfortable on that path.  I feel that I have a path, though it's not a posted, and I often hack through the underbrush for a time.  When I cross paths with the other climbers, I do my best to take something from them and share something with them - sometimes I change directions.  It's a good analogy, climbing the mountain.  I've got a lot of climbing left to do.  I'm interested to hear what others have to say as well.

Wil, Thank you for such a beautiful and insightful post!!! I also enjoyed reading Peggy and Zoe's comments, thoughts and feelings:):)

I totally agree that we all have our own journey and path to take..Wouldn't it be wonderful if we all could sit in a circle and share our stories of our own unique paths instead of trying to convince other's which path to take? or that they need to take OUR path? Lets honor one another in this journey we call “life”.. Namaste…

yes to climbing, yes to crossing paths and yes we should always remember to build some rest stops at the crossroads where we can all sit, take a breath ( a number of conscious deep ones), converse and trade notes…

Thank you for these inspiring words.

Interesting how several people who don't know each other mentioned something similar to this to me in past week or so. It looks like our guides are working simultaneously ;) towards the same goal.

A friend of mine was ordained as a Bhuddist Monk this weekend, and another joined in refuge, beautiful ceremony, wonderful spirtis.  The Monk who ordained them had some great sfutf….doubting everything, including him, the Buddha, the Sutras….prove it all to yourself…and that you can't be Buddhist unless you respect all things and all religions….awesome.

the beauty of ALL OF THIS is that all the threads lead back to the same bobbin …. yeah wil, my gosh, i missed you!

Born christian, becoming really concious and aware of the CREATOR  at 12 …. being dissillusioned by people i looked up to in church …. questioning …. searching …. finding new age …. loving the positive affirmations ….. finding wicca ….. now that was interesting ….. not delving much into judaism …. flitting through buddhism ….. briefly reading on toaism …. I Ching …. and then i found a book about the global problem of hunger. A 30 page booklet that costed me R10 / $70. and the author was a muslim …. lots of foreign terms like alhamdulillah ….. Insha Allah … so i abandoned the read. A year later I picked it up again, and having a muslim boyfriend, he could explain what i did not understand. And it all grew from there …. loving the song-recitation made at salah ….. i fell even deeper inlove with this man, my now fiance. I have found a home for my spirit in islam. and im happy, elated, joyous, thrilled, over-the-moon, inlove!

… and wil, if you look at my list of heroes …..
