October 10-13, 2008: "Heartbeat for Peace: Drum the Heart; Heal the Earth" -

On October 13, on the fourth day of a four-day event, and on the fourth anniversary of their founding as an Alliance, the Grandmothers will participate with Eli Painted Crow and Turtle Women Rising in a Drum Gathering for Peace on the Ellipse in front of the White House in Washington, D.C. The Grandmothers Council will come together to sing to the Earth Mother, in order to create peace. For as women we know that "We cannot demand Peace; we can only become it. We cannot fight for Peace; we can only live it."

Thanks For Your Time

A young man learns what's most important in life from the guy next door.

It had been some time since Jack had seen the old man. College,
girls, career, and life itself got in the way. In fact, Jack moved clear across the country in pursuit of his dreams. There, in the rush of his busy life, Jack had little time to think about the past and often no time to spend with his wife and son. He was working on his future, and nothing could stop him.

Over the phone, his mother told him, "Mr. Belser died last night. The funeral is Wednesday." Memories flashed through his mind like an
old newsreel as he sat quietly remembering his childhood days.

"Jack, did you hear me?"

"Oh, sorry, Mom. Yes, I heard you. It's been so long since I thought of him. I'm sorry, but I honestly thought he died years ago," Jack said.

"Well, he didn't forgot you. Every time I saw him he'd ask how you were doing. He'd reminisce about the many days you spent over 'his side of the fence, as he put it," Mom told him.

"I loved that old house he lived in," Jack said.

"You know, Jack, after your father died, Mr. Belser stepped
in to make sure you had a man's influence in your life," she said.

"He's the one who taught me carpentry," he said. "I wouldn't be in this business if it weren't for him. He spent a lot of time teaching me things he thought were important...Mom, I'll be there for the funeral," Jack said.

As busy as he was, he kept his word. Jack caught the next flight
to his hometown. Mr. Belser's funeral was small and uneventful. He had no
children of his own, and most of his relatives had passed away.

The night before he had to return home, Jack and his Mom stopped
by to see the old house next door one more time.

Standing in the doorway, Jack paused for a moment. It was like
crossing over into another dimension, a leap through space and time. The house was exactly as he remembered. Every step held memories. Every picture, every piece of furniture...Jack stopped suddenly.

"What's wrong, Jack?" his Mom asked.

"The box is gone," he said

"What box?" Mom asked.

"There was a small gold box that he kept locked on top of his desk. I must have asked him a thousand times what was inside. All he'd ever tell me was 'the thing I value most,'" Jack said.

It was gone. Everything about the house was exactly how Jack
remembered it, except for the box. He figured someone from the Belser family had taken it.

"Now I'll never know what was so valuable to him," Jack said. "I better get some sleep. I have an early flight home, Mom."

It had been about two weeks since Mr. Belser died Returning home
from work one day Jack discovered a note in his mailbox. "Signature
required on a package. No one at home. Please stop by the main post office within the next three days," the note read.

Early the next day Jack retrieved the package. The small box was
old and looked like it had been mailed a hundred years ago. The handwriting as difficult to read, but the return address caught his attention.

"Mr. Harold Belser" it read. Jack took the box out to his car and ripped open the package. There inside was the gold box and an envelope.

Jack's hands shook as he read the note inside.

"Upon my death, please forward this box and its contents to Jack Bennett. It's the thing I valued most in my life." A small key was taped to the letter. His heart racing, as tears filling his eyes, Jack carefully unlocked the box. There inside he found a beautiful gold pocket watch.

Running his fingers slowly over the finely etched casing, he
unlatched the cover. Inside he found these words engraved:

"Jack, Thanks for your time! -Harold Belser."

"The thing he valued most was...my time"

Jack held the watch for a few minutes, then called his office and
cleared his appointments for the next two days. "Why?" Janet, his
assistant asked.

"I need some time to spend with my son," he said.

"Oh, by the way, Janet, thanks for your time!"

"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by
the moments that take our breath away,"

Think about this. You may not realize it, but it's 100% true.

September 11, 2008 is world day of prayer. Once a year to open our 24 hours of prayer we hold an Ecumenical Service.

We invite Priests, Monks, Clergy, Practitioners from 12 different religions to speak. This year we've had 8 reply that they will attend.

Auspicious date some would say. Well we've had the day of prayer for many years but not to long ago we decided to add the Ecumenical service to kick it off. That year was 2001 and that day was 9/11/2001 and we had I believe 9 representatives that first year, and believe it or not each and every one talked about peace and love. Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Jew, Bahai...each and all peace and love, beautiful prayers and sentiments.

This year the calendar has worked its way back to the same day.

Our 24 hours of prayer will close on September 11 at 7 pm with a 45 minute Rumi movie, followed by Sufi Dancing, the Dances of Universal Peace.

Again, any and all who are in the area are welcome.

Our World Day of Prayer is part of our kick off to 11 days of Global Unity an International Event and culminates here on the UN Peace Day September 21st where we will be dedicating a Peace Pole in our meditation garden.

Twister at Four Corners

I took my kids to four corners. The silliest place on earth in my mind. And the whole time we were going there they thought why, why drive an hour out of our way to see where four states meet.

Well as a kid it was in the middle of nowhere when my parents drug us. Just a platform of concrete and a couple of cars.

Well it is part of the Dineh Nation now and surrounding it is what I call a Dineh mall. plywood flea marketeske tables and shacks with native food, jewelry and trinkets...lovely stuff really. $3 to get into the area a true tourist trap in the making now.

My mom was saying how this isn't like she remembered it, and why do we have to pay, my kids were like forget it dad, we don't want to see it anyway.

We looked at the line to go stand on the platform (they had built a platform to take pictures from and then everyone waited so their family could get on the dias) So the kids didn't want to wait and Mom didn't want to wait, so I said, go look at the stuff (the mall was in ring around the platform) I'll holler when I'm close (the one with the camera actually determined who got to go next on the dias so I'm in line for the camera platform)

I got close I called the kids they got up on the concrete square and as they stood there for the first picture embarassed as a hundred people are looking on and waiting for me to snap the picture.

So then I get started.

Right foot Colorado

Left hand Utah

As my kids began twisting and turning the crowd started laughing and I kept it up for a few more times and then we got a big applause as the left the 'stage'

They'll bring their kids back to four corners someday all the while hearing...

"Why do we have to go there, its stupid"

and saying

"It sure wasn't like this when I was a kid"

I love planting seeds of memories....

And I love the simple things that remind me of them.

Guidance

Received in an email, I searched the web to find anyone who identified an author, the only one's I found were listed as anonymous. You know I don't know if anonymous wrote this or not, but anonymous writes a lot of good stuff.

Dancing With God

When I meditated on the word Guidance, I kept seeing the word "dance" at the end of it.

I remembered reading somewhere that following God's leading in life is a lot like dancing. Nothing feels right when there are two people trying to lead. The movement doesn't flow with the music, and everything becomes uncomfortable and jerky.

Upon realizing the problem, and when one lets the other lead, both bodies begin to flow with the music. One person gives gentle cues to the other, perhaps by a nudge to the back or pressing lightly in one direction or another. It's as if two people become one body, moving beautifully.

To enjoy the dance takes surrender, willingness, and full attentiveness from one person, combined with gentle guidance and skill from the other.

My eyes drew back again to the word Guidance. When I saw the letter "G:" I thought of God, followed by "u" and "i" . . . God, "u" and "i" dance . . . God, you and I dance!

I lowered my head as I came to understand that I would get spiritual guidance if I became willing to let God lead my life.

My prayer for you today is that God's blessings and mercies will be upon you this day and everyday. May you abide in God as God abides in you. Dance together with God, trusting Him to lead and to guide you through each season of your life.

Prayer is powerful. It's one of the best gifts we can receive from someone. There is no cost to pray, but there are great rewards; so let's continue to pray for one another.

And I Hope You Dance!

Nine years ago on Father's Day my sister's family and mine had the honor of taking part in the first signing of the Inner Peace Treaty. My kids and nieces may not remember it, but they were there, and they signed along with the Mayor of Annapolis, Maryland. We circled the statehouse hand in hand in silence and then gathered and sang.

Take a stand on Mother's Day

Standing Women (Ohio/U.S.A.)

Please stand with us for five minutes of silence at 1 p.m. your local time on May 13, 2007, in your local park, school yard, gathering place, or any place you deem appropriate, to signify your agreement with the statement below. We ask you to invite the men who you care about to join you. We ask that you bring bells to ring at 1 p.m. to signify the beginning of the five minutes of silence and to ring again to signify the end of the period of silence. During the silence, please think about what you individually and we collectively can do to attain this world. If you need to sit rather than stand, please feel free to do so. Afterwards, hopefully you and your loved ones can talk together about how we can bring about this world.

Sharon Mehdi wrote a wonderful short story for her five-year old granddaughter, The Great Silent Grandmother Gathering that has inspired us. A quick summary of the story is:

A busboy who worked in a café whose window faced the public park noticed that two grandmotherly looking women had been standing in the park all day without moving at all and without talking. They were dressed up in their Sunday best and were just staring at the town hall. He asked the other patrons in the café what they thought the women were up to. They speculated on a variety of things. Then, a five-year old year who was in the café spoke up and said "One of them is my grandmother and I know what they are doing. They are standing there to save the world." All of the men in the café hooted and howled and laughed. On his way home the busboy decided to ask the women what they were doing and sure enough their answer was "We are saving the world."

Over dinner that evening the busboy told his parents and he and his father hooted and howled, but his mother was totally silent. After dinner, the mother called her best friends to tell them.

The next morning the busboy looked out the café window and the two women were back, along with his mother, her friends, and the women who had been in the café the day before. All were standing in silence staring at the town hall. Again, the men hooted and howled and said things like "You can't save the world by standing in the park. That is what we have armies for," and "everyone knows you have to have banners and slogans to save the world--you can't do it by just standing in the park."

The next day the women were joined by the women who were in the café the day before and a number of their friends. This brought the local newspaper reporter to the scene. He wrote a derisive article about the women. The day after it appeared, hundreds of women showed up to stand in the park in silence. The mayor then told the police chief to make the women leave because they were making the town appear to be foolish. When the police chief told them they would have to disperse because they didn't have a permit, one of them responded that "we are just individuals standing in our public park and we are not giving speeches or having a demonstration so why would we need a permit." The police chief thought about this and agreed with them and left the park.

At this point 2,223 women including the mayor's wife, the police chief's wife, and one five-year old girl were standing in the park to save the world. The news quickly spread and soon women were standing all over the country. The story ended with women standing in every country throughout the globe, standing to save the world.

The report...oh my what a time we had...Happy Global Family Day!

What a way to kick off the new year!

GLOBAL FAMILY Day, One Day of Peace and Sharing, is the world’s first-ever annual celebration of the reality that we are all one human family striving for a safer world. This unifying new tradition, created by children, was unanimously passed (for the second time) on September 25th 2006 by the U.S. Congress. It has also been endorsed twice by the UN General Assembly and by more than 20 sitting heads of state.

I didn't, but I do now, and so do you.

So I had two takers to go with over to the event. Joan and Ellen both said they'd love to attend and we carpooled thru DC and over the Potomac into Arlington.

We arrived early and were greeted by the minister of the church that organized it, we were in the grand ballroom of the Sheraton and I being the anal one I am counted 10 seats at a table, 6 tables in 3 rows on each side...oops one missing over there...350 seats...

The food from Japan, Korea, India, Pakistan...the people, all ages, all nationalities. The religions, Jewish, Christian, Muslim (Sunni, Shi'a and Sufi at the same tables), Hindu, Bahai, Native American (of those I met, not all spoke)

Back to the beginning, my little party we picked a table about midfield, sat on the side that had a view...and waited for the festivities to begin. Rhonda who sent me the email eventually found us and wisked us away to another table....one of the speakers tables. So we sat with one of the organizers and three of the speakers...(at the end folks were coming up to me and asking me questions...celebrity by association, I had to correct them that I was yet again a willing victim of grace and synchronicity) Anyhow great conversations...

Speaker after speaker telling of working out our differences in race, religion, politics...knowing that it is not up to our leaders in each race, religion or country...as they have agendas, but upto us, as citizens of the planet to form grassroots movements, to join together, to break bread together, and to find a way to end hunger, create peace and heal our planet.

It was incredible, wonderful, heart warming. The lady that invited me Rhonda, after dropping me off at a speakers table and introducing me, left to work with all the children. While the adults were eating she took the kids to eat in another room. And while the speaches and songs were going on, she was working with them on songs. They came back in, about 30 of them from 4-16 I'd say and sang and signed songs from Africa, Judaism, and Native American...

To sum up the evening for this Global Family Day we sang...

Our Global Family (to the tune of Auld Lang Syne)

Should global family everywhere
On the first day of the year
Join together for a meal
Ending hunger, hate and fear

We'll make our resolution then
We'll sing it loud and clear
We'll share our meals throughout the world

Which religion is right?

I've been contemplating interfaith thought (duh) and listening to this weeks talk the first Adam/second Adam note struck something within me.

I've been part of a common notion that G-d or divine inspiration was/is involved in the creation of all religions. That we have one source of our supply.

But then I look at this aspect of religious consciousness growth... Out of Sun worship, and multidieties comes monotheism, and out of that comes Judaism, and out of that Christianity, and out of that Islam, and out of that Bahai...

A continual stream of prophets/divine incarnations each leading us supposedly to a higher level of understanding.

This thought leads to a divide, that the latest and greatest prophet is bringing us the latest and greatest word/message, and that somehow those in the older schools are lesser, or left behind because of that (Adam 1 put us to sleep, Adam 2 woke us up)

Then I contemplate Jesus, and the books he studied, learned, grew up on were the OT+, the Torah, the Talmud, the Midrash (and possibly the Vedas, Upanishads etc.)

He gained his enlightenment from his knowledge of those books and his awareness of his connection. The New testament was not required for him....but just maybe required for us.

So the thought....finally getting somewhere....

Every religion has a group of people it touches and enlightens due to societal consciousness, understandings, norms, and the time. But some of them it misses...and again G-d intervenes and brings in a new word, a new prophet, begets again the only begotten which can provide another level of understanding for those that didn't get it with the last bit of info.

So Hinduism is complete, Taoism complete, Judaism complete, each and everyone with indepth exploration and practice can provide enlightenment.

But not all of us could get it, enter Jesus, Mohamed, the Bab, Miester Echard, Dali Lama, Paramahansa Yogananda, Eckardt Tolle, Butch, Pattie, Pam, April...beings of light that have taken it upon themselves to assist others in understanding...

So while for some Adam.1 left something missing which was answered by Adam 2, for others it is quite sufficient (of course they are using more books than just the OT..) for a connection with the divine, an understanding of oneness, and taking thought from scripture to practicality...

And for others Adam.2, they need Adam.3, Adam.4, or... and G-d is patient enough that we will always be provided with Adam.n+1

Influencing the Global Brain via Deeksha

On November 23rd, 2006, thousands and thousands of People from
around the world will take part in having an influence on what has been
called the global mind, the global brain, the global consciousness, the
collective consciousness, the planetary brain, and many other names!
Scientists from Princeton University will be monitoring the results at their
"Global Consciousness Project." (See above "GCP" link) In the United
States, November 23rd is Thanksgiving Day. What a perfect day to express
gratitude to the Divine, and to send Deeksha and/or meditate for the
healing of the planet and the evolution of the Global Brain. A free 1000+
person phone conference is scheduled here in the U.S., hosted by Arthur

on the Mayan Calendar known as the "Fifth Day" ( see the article) there will
be a massive global attempt to help the Global Mind shift and continue to
evolve into the emerging energies of the Quetzalcoatl or Christ Energies of the

Princeton University will be watching! Imagine a scientific
validation of the power and effect of the Deeksha Energies, and the moving

I have been in touch with the Project Director for the Global

variations in "randomness" and transmit the data back to Princeton NJ, where
the results are correlated. A sustained deviation from "randomness" would
statistically indicate that something out of the norm is happening, moving
towards "coherence."

After Princeton University scientists looked at the Data from
the June 1&2, 2005 "Midlight Meditation" event, I received, in a personal
email from the director of the GCP, the following:

"Yes, the data do show a persistent deviation from expectation
over nearly two days, including the times set for the global dikshas. This
is not a test of a formal prediction, so claiming statistical significance is
not appropriate. A second caveat is that we know effects in the GCP
data are so small, on average, that we cannot expect conclusive evidence in
any single analysis -- rather, we need dozens of repetitions of similar
events to get reliable estimates.

Caveats aside, what is shown in the graph is a simple record of
what the data did June 1&2, and it is consistent with the idea that a
global consciousness (possibly something like a field) affected our
instruments."

The data showed a persistent deviation from what would be
normally expected - and Dr. Nelson stated that the data "is consistent with the
idea that a global consciousness... affected our instruments"

But note the caveats- a single analysis cannot and does not lead
to any specific conclusion. Such is the nature of science. In order to
show that Deeksha givers around the world can affect the Global mind when
working in concert, there must be additional Data.

As someone whose training was in Physics (cum Laude Physics
degree, UMass Boston 1983), one of the things I love about the deeksha
community is its openness to scientific investigation- Indeed, not only are
Deeksha proponents open to the enquiring eye of the scientific world,
but they seem to truly welcome it! I am very excited to be assisting the
Deeksha community in its goal of the realization of Oneness.

Deeksha Givers across the US, Mexico, Canada, Europe, Asia,
India, Australia, and the rest of the world will be joining on November
23rd at Midnight, 6AM, and Noon (Eastern Standard Times) in a world wide
Deeksha for the evolution of the "Global Brain."

We perceive what we see and hear based on past experience and present mood, then we make judgements on this...and 'act accordingly'. Now the question is are we responding or reacting, and 'What am I birthing now?'

We create moment after moment, with our thoughts, our words and our actions.

What am I birthing now?

We blame others for some incident that happened, and then wonder why they react to us the way they do...

What am I birthing now?

It is our time to start owning what goes on around us and our percceptions of it and realize the very next moment is determined by what we do in this moment. Thousands of potential individual outcomes all ready and waiting for our response, reaction, thought, word or action.

Forget what just went on, that has been birthed and is growing....if you can't tell, I'll be playing with a new mantra for a while.
